What Junk Mechanics is
Players buy rusty cars from junkyards, repair them part by part, paint them, and sell them for in-game Cash. Later they unlock better junkyards, tune engines and collect rare cars. It is published by Oil Leak, a verified Roblox group, and lists Desktop, Mobile and Console support. The game page describes weekly updates, and new cars and events arrive most weeks.

Auctions: worth a conversation
Auctions in Junk Mechanics pay out a random reward: sometimes a rare car, often a small amount of Cash. The game itself shows a warning that auctions are not meant to be profitable. Premium auctions need keys that can be bought with Robux, so real money can be spent on random outcomes. Creators who make videos about the game have filmed themselves spending millions of in-game Cash without getting the car they wanted, and one creator's October 2 video openly criticised how hard some auction cars are to get.
Roblox's content labels note "unplayable gambling content" at higher maturity levels, and this game is labelled Minimal, so auctions are not classified as gambling by Roblox. Still, the experience of paying for a chance can feel similar. Our auctions guide is written to discourage chasing losses, and you may find it useful to read together.
- Ask your child to explain the odds shown in the auction menu before they open one.
- Suggest using only free keys from codes and quests.
- Point out that no car can be traded or sold for real money, so a rare car has no value outside the game.
Roblox controls you can use
Roblox's parental controls work from a parent account linked to your child's account. These are the most relevant settings for Junk Mechanics, summarised from Roblox Support.
| Control | What it does | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Monthly spending limit | Caps how much your child can spend each calendar month. It resets monthly and does not roll over. Gift card redemption is not affected. | Settings → Parental Controls → Settings you manage → Spending restrictions |
| Spending notifications | Notify you on every purchase or at high monthly spending; high-spend alerts are on by default. | Same menu |
| Robux balance | See your child's balance and add Robux. | Parental Controls → your child → Robux |
| Game chat and direct chat | Control in-game text chat. Under-9s need parental consent for game chat; under-13s need consent for direct chat. | Settings you manage → Communication |
| Private servers | Limit private servers to Friends or turn them off. | Settings you manage → Visibility & private servers |
| Screen time | Set a daily time limit for Roblox. | Parental Controls → Screen time |
| Blocked games | Block a specific game entirely. | Settings you manage → Content restrictions → Blocked games |
Full step-by-step instructions are on Roblox's Parental Controls Overview page.
Chat, strangers and scams
Public servers hold up to 12 players. Players can see each other's cars and may chat, subject to Roblox's chat settings. Be wary of anyone offering free Robux, "trading" or giveaways that ask for passwords or links outside Roblox. Junk Mechanics had no trading system when we checked, so any offer to trade cars is not real. Codes are free and only redeemed inside the game; real codes are listed on our codes page with their sources.
